Western Greece Explores Tourism and Business Synergies with Serbia

Tourism and business cooperation between Serbia and the Region of Western Greece took center stage during a recent meeting in Athens.

Western Greece Deputy Regional for Tourism Development Panagiotis Sakellaropoulos and Deputy Governor for Sports Takis Antonopoulos met with Serbia’s First Counsellor and Consul Dejan Mackovic to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral ties.

Talks focused on enhancing tourism links between Serbia and Western Greece, exploring opportunities for joint sports and cultural initiatives, and highlighting the strategic role of Araxos’ Airport in boosting regional connectivity.

Participants underlined the historic bonds of friendship and solidarity between Greece and Serbia, presenting Western Greece as an ideal destination for creative collaborations and cultural exchange.

The meeting was part of the region’s strategy to promote initiatives that integrate tourism, culture, and entrepreneurship, while strengthening its ties with Balkan and European countries to foster long-term cooperation, trust, and mutual understanding.

Also present at the meeting were Pyrgos Deputy Mayor for Tourism Alekos Galanopoulos, Achaia Chamber of Commerce Second Vice-President Takis Vasileiou, Hellenic-Ukrainian Friendship Association “Pharos” President Michalis Rodopoulos, and Professor Alexis Panagopoulos.
