Are you a care-experienced or estranged student planning to study at a UK university? The Unite Foundation Scholarship 2025/2026 offers an incredible opportunity to secure free accommodation for up to three years while pursuing your undergraduate studies.

For many students from challenging backgrounds, the costs and instability of housing can become overwhelming. The Unite Foundation aims to remove this burden, providing a stable, supportive environment so you can focus entirely on your education, personal growth, and career goals.

List of Partner Universities

The scholarship is only available for students enrolling at partner universities. Some major partners include:

  1. University College London (UCL)
  2. University of Edinburgh
  3. King’s College London
  4. University of Bristol
  5. Queen Mary University of London
  6. Manchester Metropolitan University
  7. Sheffield Hallam University
  8. De Montfort University
  9. University of the West of England (UWE)
  10. And many others across England, Scotland, and Wales

Important: Only students studying at the main campuses of partner universities are eligible — students at franchise or satellite campuses are not.

Degree Level

Unite Foundation, Scotland/UK Scholarship 2025 is available to undertake Undergraduate level programs at UK Universities.

  5. Flexibility to relocate to another Unite Students property if needed for a placement or holiday job.
  6. Opportunities to engage with the wider Unite Foundation student community through events and media projects.

Eligible Nationalities

​To be eligible for the Unite Foundation Scholarship 2025, applicants must hold UK home fee status. This typically includes:​

  1. UK citizens
  2. Individuals with settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme
  3. Those granted refugee or asylum status
  4. Individuals with indefinite leave to remain in the UK​

International and EU students who are classified as overseas fee-paying students are not eligible for this scholarship. ​

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Unite Foundation Scholarship 2025/26, you must:

  1. Be 25 years old or younger on 1 September 2025.
  2. Be starting or continuing your first undergraduate degree at a Unite Foundation partner university.
  3. Have UK home fee status.
  4. Be in receipt of or applying for student finance support as a care leaver, care-experienced, or estranged student.
  5. Meet one of these definitions:
  6. Care Leaver (England, Wales, Northern Ireland): Recognized by a Local Authority with care leaver status.
  7. Care Experienced (Scotland): Previously looked after by a Local Authority.
  8. Estranged Student: Officially recognized by student finance or SAAS as being permanently estranged from both parents.

You’ll need to provide supporting documents confirming your status from your local authority or student finance body.

  1. Application Opens: 1 January 2025
  2. Application Closes: 13 June 2025 at 23:59
  3. University Confirmation Deadline: 20 June 2025 at 11:59
  4. Scholarship Results Announcement: 3 July 2025 (by 3:00 PM)
  5. Accommodation Finalization: July–August 2025
  6. Reserve List Clearing Ends: 29 August 2025

There are only 70 scholarships available this year, so applicants are encouraged to apply early and ensure their applications are complete and accurate.
