Université de Montréal (UdeM) Exemption Scholarships 2025-2026 for International Students – Canada

The Université de Montréal (UdeM) is offering Exemption Scholarships for international students to help reduce or waive international tuition fees across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs.

First introduced in Fall 2020, this scholarship aims to attract top global talent and support academic diversity at one of the world’s leading francophone research universities.

Scholarship Benefits

Undergraduate Programs

Scholarship value is based on academic performance:

  • Level A

    • Per credit: $458.02 CAD

    • Per session (15 credits): $6,870.30 CAD

    • Per year (30 credits): $13,740.60 CAD

  • Level B

    • Per credit: $218.28 CAD

    • Per session (15 credits): $3,274.20 CAD

    • Per year (30 credits): $6,548.40 CAD

Note: Scholarship is directly deducted from tuition fees.

Master’s Programs

Research-Based Programs

  • Per credit: $336.66 CAD

  • Per session (15 credits): $5,050.00 CAD

  • Per year (3 sessions): $15,150.00 CAD

Non-Research Programs

  • Per credit: $239.75 CAD

  • Per session (15 credits): $3,596.25 CAD

  • Per year (3 sessions): $10,788.75 CAD

Note: Writing and correction sessions are charged at Quebec rates.

PhD Programs

  • Per credit: $509.08 CAD

  • Per session (15 credits): $7,636.20 CAD

  • Per year (3 sessions): $22,908.60 CAD

Note: Doctoral students pay the same tuition as Quebec residents.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be an international student (excluding French and Belgian francophone nationals)

  • Have received an admission offer for a full-time degree program

  • Hold a valid CAQ and study permit for the entire duration of the program

  • Be enrolled full-time at UdeM

  • Not be receiving any other tuition exemption

Failure to meet any condition may result in scholarship cancellation.

How to Apply

  1. Apply for Admission

    • Choose your desired program

    • Review deadlines and admission requirements

    • Apply online via UdeM’s portal

  2. Receive Admission Offer

    • Track your status through the Centre étudiant

    • You will be automatically considered for the exemption scholarship—no separate application required

  3. Get Scholarship Notification

    • Once admitted, UdeM will send you a scholarship notice by email indicating your exemption level and amount

    • Save this notice—it is required for immigration and registration
