Scottie Scheffler, who won his second Green Jacket in two years, will be looking to become the sixth player after Jimmy Demaret, Sam Snead, Gary Player, Nick Faldo, and Phil Mickelson to win a third Green Jacket.

Mcllroy To End Augusta Curse?

Rory Mcllroy has won almost everything in the world of golf; however, the one thing that has eluded him is a Green Jacket.
In 2024, he was one of the eight players to finish in 22nd place, with a score of +4.
The closest he came to winning a Green Jacket was in 2022, when he fell short of Sheffler by three shots.
Although he has spent 100 weeks at the top of the World Golf Rankings, surprisingly, he has only four major championship wins.

The last one was the Open Championship 2014, where he also captured his second PGA Championship Title.

Hopefully, winning the Players Championship for the second time in his career could put him in good shape for a crack at The Masters.

However, he does head into the tournament with a minor elbow injury.

The world’s number one player had a fantastic 2024 when he captured the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky.
He also won The Open Championship at Royal Troon, finishing with a score of -9.

However, he is not in the best of form. He finished 72nd at The Players with a score of +13.

After becoming the PGA Champion in 2020, Morikawa won The Open Championship at Royal St George’s in 2021.

In the 2024 Masters, he finished joint-third alongside fellow American Max Homa and England’s Tommy Fleetwood on -4. This was his best performance at this tournament.

Currently fourth in the PGA rankings, the 28-year-old refused to speak to the media after blowing a three-shot lead at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.
Many experts, including former Irish Golfer Paul McGinley, labeled the move unprofessional and dangerous.
“It’s dangerous for the business of golf. It’s really important that the players are aware of their obligations and remember they are custodians of the tour.”

The 25-year-old is considered to be one of the rising stars in golf.
He has two PGA Tour wins, the latest in the Genesis Invitational in February.

Last year, he was the runner-up by four shots, finishing the final round at -7.
His form this year has been patchy, as he has only finished in the top five in two of the six PGA Tour events he has played.
If he can at least have a good Masters and finish inside the top 10, this will keep him in good stead for the future.
