The North Aegean Region honored Alexandros Vassilikos, president of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, on Wednesday for his significant contribution to the tourism development of the islands.
A native of the North Aegean island of Lemnos, Vassilikos also serves as president of HOTREC, the European umbrella association representing national hotel, restaurant, and café trade associations across 36 countries.
In his remarks, North Aegean Regional Governor Konstantinos Moutzouris praised Vassilikos’ long-standing efforts in promoting tourism and emphasized the strategic importance of this recognition.
“Today’s event and the honoring of Mr. Vassilikos represent the region’s acknowledgment of his valuable contribution to the development of tourism in the North Aegean and Greece as a whole,” Moutzouris said at the ceremony held at the regional authority’s headquarters in Mytilini, Lesvos.

Vassilikos: “A shared honor for Greek hospitality”
In response, Vassilikos expressed his gratitude to the governor and the regional authority for the honor.
“What has impressed me most is the governor’s active participation in all the chamber’s meetings, which reflects his deep interest in tourism and his vision for the North Aegean islands,” Vassilikos said. “I accept this honor on behalf of Greek hospitality and the hotel sector, which is not just about numbers but about building relationships and creating connections. Hospitality extends beyond hoteliers to every part of the tourism industry.”
