This 48-month research training program provides an international, interdisciplinary environment, blending academia and industry to address some of modern medicine’s most urgent challenges. The program is designed to develop the next generation of scientific leaders in the field, while creating valuable partnerships across Europe and the United States.
What is the MAP-ID Program?
The Multilevel Approaches to Understanding Chronic Inflammatory Diseases (MAP-ID) program focuses on tackling chronic inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and other autoimmune disorders. Researchers in this program will engage in cutting-edge research that combines molecular biology, biotechnology, and pharmacology to develop novel therapeutic strategies for these diseases.
PhD Opportunities in MAP-ID
As part of the program, 13 PhD students will be selected to undertake state-of-the-art research across Jagiellonian University and its network of international partners. The program includes secondments to 9 European partner universities and 3 US universities, ensuring that candidates gain a global perspective on the challenges and solutions related to chronic inflammation. Additionally, students will collaborate with 8 European biotechnology companies, completing a 3-month secondment that bridges the gap between academic research and industry application.
International Collaboration and Networking
One of the highlights of the MAP-ID program is the international collaboration that forms its core. Students will not only work alongside some of the brightest minds at Jagiellonian University but also at prestigious partner institutions across Europe and the USA. This program is designed to equip researchers with the skills and connections needed to tackle complex medical challenges on a global scale.
