The 2025 IMF Youth Challenge in Economics aims to encourage individuals with innovative thinking and to provide a platform for these young economists to contribute their knowledge to the policy dialogue in the MENA region. Individuals who have completed an undergraduate degree and are currently enrolled in any master’s or doctoral program in economics or a related field are eligible to apply for this program. Individuals who are from one of the MENA countries can apply for this international competition.

The individuals for the IMF Youth Challenge in Economics 2025 will be finalized on the following evaluation criteria: Relevance, Innovation, Clarity, and Impact. The submissions will be evaluated by a panel of IMF’s MENA department staff. The international youth challenge will select three winners. The winners will be invited to participate in an international research conference in Egypt in May 2025. They will get a fully funded trip to this conference. Winners will get free hotel accommodations, reimbursement for travel costs, and other incidental expenses. Furthermore, an invitation letter for visa purposes will also be provided.
