The Greek Tourism Ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) are working on initiatives to support the tourism sector of Santorini amid ongoing seismic activity in the Cyclades.
In preparation for the upcoming tourism season, Greece’s tourism authorities are focused on implementing a new strategy to sustain the island’s competitiveness while ensuring visitor safety.
As part of these efforts, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni on Monday met with Santorini Hoteliers Association (SHA) President Antonis Pagonis and Atlantida Santorini Hotels Union (Association of Small Hotel Owners) President Lefteris Anapliotis in Athens to review ways to strengthen the island’s tourism sector.
“Santorini is a flagship destination for Greek tourism, and ensuring its stability and competitiveness remains our priority,” said Kefalogianni.

She further highlighted that these efforts aim to protect Santorini’s natural and cultural heritage, underscoring its importance as a pillar of the Greek economy.
Collaboration key to promote Santorini’s tourism

He further highlighted the impact of the earthquakes on the island, stressing the need for stronger collaboration to enhance the Santorini experience for both travelers and tourism professionals.
To support this effort, the GNTO will provide local bodies with the necessary tools to promote Santorini’s tourism offerings in international markets.
“Our tourism sector is resilient, and Santorini remains an iconic destination with enduring value and momentum,” said Fiorentinos. “Through collaboration and strategic planning, we will ensure that the island welcomes the new tourism season under the best possible conditions.”
The two meetings were part of the government’s broader strategy for the proactive and effective management of emerging challenges, coordinated by Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and South Aegean Governor George Hatzimarkos.
