Greece continues to impress international visitors, with tourists from the United States and the United Kingdom giving the highest satisfaction scores for their travel experiences in the country, shows a report released recently by INSETE, the research arm of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE).
According to the Greece Sentiment Tracker Q2 2025 report, compiled by INSETE in collaboration with TCI Research, Americans rated their trips at 9.3 out of 10, while British visitors scored 9.2.
Among regions, the Peloponnese stood out for American tourists with a 9.6 rating, while the Cyclades earned top marks from British travelers at 9.2.
Other markets also recorded strong satisfaction in specific regions: Polish and Hungarian visitors rated Thessaly at 9.7 and 9.5, respectively, and Bulgarian tourists gave Central Macedonia a 9.5.
By contrast, visitors from Germany (8.6), Italy (8.5), and France (8.4) expressed comparatively lower satisfaction for their travel experiences in Γρεεψε in the second quarter of 2025.

Stories fueling Greece’s social reputation
Positive sentiment drivers highlighted in the report underline Greece’s combination of iconic sights, authentic experiences, and warm hospitality.
The sunsets and caldera views of Santorini, the UNESCO Old Town and scenic trail on Corfu, the fishing villages and hidden beaches on Milos, and the UNESCO-listed Zagorochoria villages in the Pindos mountains were repeatedly praised.
Cultural experiences — including Knossos on Crete, Elefsina, and the Athens–Epidaurus Festival — alongside culinary offerings such as olive oil tastings, vegetarian dishes, and traditional desserts like portokalopita, were also key highlights.
Hospitality emerged as the strongest nationwide factor, with personnel scoring 9.5 overall.

Greece’s vigilance points for online reputation
Despite strong overall ratings, Greece’s online reputation faced challenges.
Extreme weather events — including heatwaves, wildfires on Chios, floods, and earthquakes near Crete and across the Aegean — led to negative online commentary.
On Santorini, criticism of donkey rides for animal welfare and reports of overloaded animals further contributed to negative sentiment.
Moreover, political tensions, particularly around protests concerning Israel, were also noted in some tourist areas.
Greece ranks 5th among destinations

As the report shows, Greece’s online reputation among key travel destinations declined in the second quarter of 2025.
However, despite the weaker online reputation, visitor satisfaction for Greece reached record levels as the country maintained a robust average rating of 9.1, surpassing the European benchmark of 8.8.
Among European destinations, Greece ranked fifth with an average reputation score of 39 points between April and June 2025 on the Net Sentiment Index (NSI), behind Croatia (66), Athens (61), Italy (51), and Portugal (49) and ahead of Spain (29).
Experience categories performed consistently well, with Food & Beverage leading at 9.2, Sea and Culture at 9.1, and Value for Money averaging 8.9.
Regional highlights included outstanding service in West Macedonia (10.0) and Epirus (9.9), and strong sustainability ratings in Thessaly (9.7) and North Aegean (9.4).
According to INSETE, the findings underscore Greece’s ability to deliver high-quality travel experiences while highlighting areas for improvement, particularly in managing natural hazards and ensuring consistent visitor experiences across all regions.
