The Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg is now inviting applications for its PhD Scholarships 2025, including both Full PhD Scholarships (36 months) and Short-term PhD Scholarships (6 months). Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the BTU Graduate Research School PhD Scholarships, you must:

  1. Be enrolled or accepted for a PhD or doctoral program at BTU
  2. Hold a relevant university degree
  3. Demonstrate outstanding academic performance, research motivation, and originality
  4. Have a confirmed supervisor at BTU and be affiliated with their chair
  5. Submit a complete application package in the specified format

Note: Applicants without a confirmed BTU supervisor or those whose previous application was rejected are not eligible to apply.

Application Procedure

Required Documents for Short-term PhD Scholarship

  1. Declaration form
  2. Letter of motivation
  3. CV with list of publications (max 2 pages)
  4. Progress report (4–6 pages)
  5. Academic transcripts and degrees
  6. Proof of doctoral admission
  7. Copy of visa (if applicable)
  8. Supervisor’s report confirming the feasibility of dissertation submission within 6 months

Important: Candidates must be able to submit their PhD dissertation within the 6-month period. Proof of submission is required at the end of the funding.

Q1: Can I apply for the BTU PhD scholarship if I don’t have a supervisor yet?

No, only candidates who have already secured a BTU supervisor and can provide a letter of acceptance (Betreuungszusage) are eligible to apply.

Q2: Is there a possibility to receive both the full and short-term scholarship?

No, you cannot receive both. Applicants who have already received GRS funding are not eligible to reapply for another scholarship.

Q3: Are international students eligible for the scholarship?
