Low-cost airline easyJet has announced a new direct route connecting the Greek island of Skiathos with Basel, Switzerland, as part of its summer 2025 schedule.
Scheduled to launch in late June, the new route will operate twice weekly — on Tuesdays and Fridays — until late August, further strengthening easyJet’s ongoing partnership with the Municipality of Skiathos.
This new connection complements easyJet’s existing routes to Skiathos, which include direct flights from London, Manchester, Milan, and Naples.
According to the municipality, the decision to launch the Basel-Skiathos route followed discussions held during the WTM London 2024 exhibition in November. At the event, Skiathos Mayor Thodoris Tzoumas and Deputy Mayor for Tourism Alexandros Efstathiou met with easyJet representatives Luca D’Isep, Airport Development Analyst, and Nicholas Burgin, Marketing Partnership Manager.
The discussions focused on extending their collaboration, which has included promotional campaigns for the island in Italy and the UK since 2021.
Skiathos has been actively promoting itself in the Swiss market since 2022 to capitalize on growing interest from Swiss travelers. The new Basel connection is seen as a significant step in attracting more visitors from this region.
“With the addition of the Basel route, further initiatives will be undertaken to enhance Skiathos’ presence in Basel and strengthen this direct connection,” Mayor Tzoumas said.
