The Region of Central Macedonia recently showcased its diverse tourism offerings at two key international events in Sweden and Germany, aiming to strengthen its presence in the Northern European market.
At the Travel News Market World 2024 exhibition in Stockholm, the region focused on attracting Swedish tourists by presenting its unique cultural, natural, and gastronomic experiences.
Similarly, at the Tourism B2B Event in Frankfurt, Germany, the region engaged with industry professionals to highlight its appeal as a year-round destination, emphasizing its rich heritage and thriving tourism sectors.
Targeting Scandinavian and German markets

The Region of Central Macedonia, in collaboration with the Halkidiki Tourism Organization (HTO), participated in the Travel News Market World 2024 fair, which serves as the leading B2B event in Sweden. The fair brought together international travel suppliers and the Nordic outbound market, offering an excellent opportunity for the region to connect with Scandinavian travel professionals.
During the event, the regional delegation promoted the destination’s offerings, with a strong focus on mountain tourism, skiing, and thermal spa experiences. The region also highlighted its cultural heritage and local gastronomy, which includes authentic flavors and traditional products that reflect its centuries-old history. B2B meetings were held with travel agents and conference organizers, generating interest in the region’s diverse tourism experiences.
Positioning Central Macedonia as a year-round destination

At the Tourism B2B Event in Frankfurt, Central Macedonia highlighted its appeal as a year-round destination.
In collaboration with the Pierian Organization of Tourism Development and Promotion (POTAP), the region engaged with over 20 German tourism agencies, presenting its diverse offerings through audiovisual and printed materials. The German tourism professionals showed particular interest in the stunning beaches of Halkidiki and Pieria, as well as the region’s spectacular landscapes.
“Central Macedonia’s participation in these targeted events aligns with our strategy to strengthen our position in the Scandinavian and German markets, known for their high purchasing power,” said Vicky Hatzivasileiou, Vice-Regional Governor for Tourism.
She added that the region’s extensive natural beauty, cultural attractions, and year-round tourism appeal have generated significant interest from both Swedish and German professionals.
