The Municipality of Athens will open the facilities of the children’s summer camp in Agios Andreas, Attica, to accommodate residents leaving the Cyclades islands due to ongoing seismic activity.
Thousands of Santorini residents have evacuated the island fearing a major earthquake, while tremors have also been felt on the islands of Amorgos, Anafi, and Ios.
Starting Saturday, February 8, the camp will provide temporary housing and daily sustenance for those affected.
Athens Mayor Haris Doukas highlighted the municipality’s commitment to offering safe accommodation and meals for displaced individuals. “In response to the housing needs of Cyclades residents, we are immediately opening the children’s summer camp facilities in Agios Andreas,” he said.
Interested individuals can call the emergency number 1595 for information and assistance.

Over 60 people, including families with children, have already expressed interest in staying at the camp. The facility, which includes heating, cleaning services, and security, is supported by several municipal services, with the Athens Municipal Nursery coordinating the food provision.
