Ioannina International Airport in Epirus is set to welcome new direct charter flights this summer, enhancing its connectivity to Northern Europe.
According to an announcement of the Ioannina Region Hoteliers Association, Scandinavian tour operator Apollo Rejser has renewed its inclusion of Ioannina in its travel packages, expanding the charter flight program to Norway, Finland, and Swedish cities Örebro and Luleå.
From May 16 to October 20, Ioannina will be directly connected to Oslo, Helsinki, Örebro, and Luleå, with continued services to Copenhagen, Billund, Stockholm, and Gothenburg. Additionally, four charter flights to Tel Aviv are scheduled for May.
The flights will be operated by SAS, Atlantic Airways, and Braathens, with weekly departures on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays using Airbus A319 and A320neo aircraft.
“The continued interest from Apollo Rejser affirms that Ioannina Airport operates at a high standard and is increasingly capturing a share of Greece’s tourism traffic,” said Ioannina’s hoteliers association.
Alongside international routes, Ioannina also offers daily domestic flights to Athens, operated by AEGEAN Airlines and Olympic Air.

According to the hoteliers association, the airport’s appeal is further supported by its modern facilities, refueling capabilities, and competitive fees.
“Private flights, particularly during the summer, are increasingly opting for Ioannina as a refueling stop or destination,” the association said, highlighting that private aircraft and helicopters traveling to and from European and Arab countries are choosing Ioannina more frequently for both refueling and stays.
Moreover, the association highlighted that securing more scheduled flights, in addition to charter services, is crucial to attracting even more visitors to Ioannina and the wider region.
