The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is thrilled to announce the return of two major scholarship opportunities! The competition runs from January 1st, 2025, to September 30th, 2025, giving students ample time to collect and donate electronic devices.
Scholarship Opportunities
$1 Million Scholarship
- Collect 1 million laptops and smartphones (suitable for donation) across Canada to win!
$100K Scholarship
- Collect 100,000 approved devices to secure this prize.
How to Participate
Participants can ship their devices at no cost using ERA’s shipping labels. Items can be picked up for free from homes by FedEx, UPS, Canada Post, or directly by an ERA truck (in select locations).
- Non-approved items will be accepted but require a small fee. However, these items will still count towards the scholarship totals if the fee is paid.

Ways to Collect Items
- Encourage individuals & businesses to download the ERA App (iOS/Android) or use the website form.
- Enter your scholarship ID (Scholarship + Your Name) in the “Reference Code” field of the shipping label.
- ERA will collect approved items for free.
- Non-approved items count if fees are paid.
- Organize corporate pickups on behalf of ERA.
- Companies can donate 20+ computing devices Canada-wide.
- ERA provides hard drive destruction (e.g., 100 devices = 100 hard drives shredded for free).
- Host community or collection events to gather electronics for donation.
Rules & Guidelines
- Open to students residing in Canada.
- Competition begins on January 1st, 2025, and all final results must be submitted by September 30th, 2025.
- No purchase necessary to enter.
- Winners will be announced in November 2025 via ERA’s social media and website (dates subject to change).
- Winners will be contacted by ERA; failure to respond within one week results in disqualification.
- If you win, you will be tagged in all scholarship-related communications.
- ERA retains rights to all submitted marketing materials, including any social media accounts created for the competition.
- Passwords for these accounts must be turned over to ERA at the end of the competition to maintain eligibility.
