To help break down financial barriers, we offer Google Conference Scholarships for selected tech industry conferences and related fields.
Scholarship eligibility varies by region. Please check the region-specific tabs for more details. Scholarships are awarded based on application review, and all applicants will be notified of their status within the specified time frame.
Eligibility
To qualify for a Google Conference Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a full-time student at a recognized university in Africa and require financial assistance for conference travel.
- Have a paper accepted at a top-tier computer science conference. Preference is given to conferences in research areas where Google has a strong interest. Visit research.google.com for a list of research areas.
- Be the sole or joint first author of the accepted paper.
- Not be a Google employee.
Additionally, individuals who:
- Reside in embargoed countries,
- Are ordinarily resident in embargoed countries, or
- Are restricted by export control and sanctions programs,
are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
How to Apply
To apply for the Google Conference Scholarship:
- Complete and submit the application form by the deadline for the conference you wish to attend.
- Due to the shift to virtual conferences, we are currently accepting applications to cover conference registration fees.
Claim Process
- Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year. Eligible applicants can expect a response within approximately four weeks of applying.
- It is recommended to apply well in advance of the conference start date, as the payment process can take 5-8 weeks.
- Once approved, the scholarship funds will be sent to the applicant’s university, and the student can claim expenses through their university’s reimbursement process.
