The U.S. Senate confirmed Kimberly Guilfoyle on September 18 as the next Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic, marking a historic milestone as the first woman to hold the position.

She will be the 25th U.S. Ambassador to Greece since the American Legation was elevated to embassy status in 1942.

Upon her confirmation, Ambassador-Designate Guilfoyle expressed gratitude to President Donald J. Trump and the Senate, calling the appointment “the honor of my life”.

She highlighted her commitment to advancing U.S. interests while fostering strong ties with Greece, describing the country as “the birthplace of democracy, liberty, and the rule of law — the very ideals that inspired our American Founders”.

Guilfoyle outlined her priorities to work with Greek allies to promote peace, prosperity, and security in the Eastern Mediterranean. She pledged to be “a proud representative of President Trump, a fierce advocate for American interests, and a steadfast friend to Greece and the Greek people.”

Ambassador Guilfoyle is expected to arrive in Athens in mid-October, after signing her appointment and taking her oath, officially beginning her tenure in a role that will shape U.S.-Greece relations in the years ahead.
