Oia, the iconic village on Santorini, has been recognized by Forbes as one of the world’s 50 most beautiful villages, celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes, rich culture, and refined gastronomy.
Aiming to inspire travelers to discover new destinations, Forbes editor Lewis Nunn collaborated with the travel agency Unforgettable Travel Company to present their picks for the world’s most beautiful villages of 2025.
Perched on the northern tip of Santorini, Oia was ranked the sixth most beautiful settlement, known for its luxury pools, bougainvillea-draped balconies, and whitewashed cliffside homes carved into the caldera.
Travelers wandering through its streets will find bohemian art galleries and chic boutiques, while donkeys pass by picturesque church bells. Traditional tavernas serve local delicacies paired with Santorini’s renowned wines.
Hallstatt. Austria.
Europe dominates the list, with well-known countries such as England, Norway, Italy, and Spain, as well as smaller nations like Slovenia and Liechtenstein, showcasing villages with a distinct identity. By contrast, the list also highlights diverse settlements from the US and Asia.
Bibury in England was named the world’s most beautiful village, enchanting travelers with its fairytale charm. Meanwhile, in Austria, Hallstatt offers an idyllic escape surrounded by forests and framed by stunning views of the mountains and lake.
The list also features Reine, Giethoorn, Gásadalur, Bourtange, Kotor, Shirakawa-go, Adare, Steg, Zhouzhuang, Ghandruk, Victoria-by-the-Sea, and Sidi Bou Said.
