Unwilling to give up on his pursuit of Dexter, Batista lands at Prater’s mansion and reveals to him that Red Schmidt is actually Dexter Morgan and the real Bay Harbor Butcher.
But, instead of attacking Dexter, Prater holds Batista hostage and instigates Dex to kill his old friend in front of him. He refuses, and the situation escalates to the point that Prater shoots Batista to death. A remorseful Dex admits that he’s the real Bay Harbor Butcher just as Batista takes his final breath.
