Greece’s Alternative Offerings Woo Korean Tourism Professionals and Media

South Korean travel professionals, journalists, and influencers had the chance to explore Greece’s alternative offerings at an event organized by the Greek Tourism Ministry in Seoul.

Highlighting the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, Minister Olga Kefalogianni underlined Greece’s diverse advantages that shape a unique visitor experience, from cultural and maritime to mountain, wellness, and gastronomy tourism.

These areas rank high on the ministry’s agenda, which is focusing on strengthening them through initiatives designed to enhance their appeal. The plan includes upgrading tourism infrastructure, renewing the country’s official portal visitgreece.gr, and expanding the use of digital tools to provide visitors with better information.

To advance this strategy in the Korean market, the minister emphasized the launch of a direct Athens–Seoul connection as a year-round priority.

“A direct air connection between Korea and Greece is necessary, given that boosting tourism demand from Korea to Greece is a strategic goal for the ministry,” Kefalogianni said.

Guests expressed strong interest in Greece and exchanged views with Kefalogianni on issues related to their professional activities.

Following the event, the minister visited the National Assembly of Korea for a scheduled meeting with Chil Seung Kwon, head of the Greece–Korea Parliamentary Friendship Committee.

During their talks, Kefalogianni noted that the ministry aims to build on Greece–Korea’s strong ties to further expand in the South Korean tourism market. On the sidelines of her trip, she also visited Dragon Studios, where she met with CEO Jang Kyung-ik and senior executives.
