The Greek islands of Paros and Skiathos have been named two of Europe’s most underrated luxury destinations in a new study by international travel company CV Villas.
Europe offers a wide range of luxury experiences beyond traditional hotspots like the Alps or Lake Como, the report notes.
Paros, located in the Cyclades, ranks sixth with a score of 66.13 out of 100. The island is an excellent alternative to more famous Greek destinations like Santorini and Mykonos, featuring luxury accommodations, refined local cuisine, and crystal-clear waters. It also serves as a convenient base for day trips to nearby islands such as Antiparos and Naxos.

The island is well-connected by air to major European cities including Bratislava, Basel, Zurich, Manchester, London Gatwick, Bristol, and Bournemouth.

France and Italy dominate this year’s top 20 list, with France claiming six spots and Italy three.
Topping the 2025 list is Umbria, Italy’s most underrated luxury destination. Following closely is Biarritz on France’s southwest coast, known for its seaside elegance and joie de vivre.
In the Eastern Mediterranean, Paphos, Cyprus, secured third place, celebrated for vibrant nightlife, unspoiled beaches, scenic vineyards, golf courses, and even winter skiing opportunities.
Other notable destinations include Brittany, Emilia-Romagna, San Sebastián, Antibes, St Ives, Taormina, Valletta, and Puglia.
“Luxury travel is no longer just confined to high-end shopping sprees and spa days,” said Ben Briggs, Head of Marketing at CV Villas. “Destinations we might not have once thought of as luxury – or perhaps not heard of at all – are quickly emerging as the new frontier in high-end travel.”
