The University of Melbourne’s Human Rights Scholarship 2026 is now open for applications, offering a fully funded graduate research opportunity for both domestic and international students committed to the peaceful promotion of human rights.
Degree Level
University of Melbourne Australia Human Rights Scholarship 2026 (Fully Funded) is available to undertake Masters, MRes, PhD level programs at University of Melbourne.

Benefits
Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive package that covers both academic and living costs:
- Living Allowance: AUD $43,500 per year (pro rata for part-time), indexed annually
- Full Tuition Fee Offset: Up to 2 years for Master’s, up to 4 years for Doctorate
- Relocation Grant: AUD $2,000 for interstate students or AUD $3,000 for international students
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC): Single membership for student visa holders
Eligible Nationalities
Open to applicants of all nationalities.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, you must:
- Be applying for or admitted to a Master by Research or PhD program at the University of Melbourne
- Conduct research specifically in the field of human rights
- Be committed to human rights advocacy, as evidenced by academic, voluntary, or professional work
- Not have completed a similar level research qualification before
- Not have previously received a graduate research scholarship from the University
Selection Process
Applicants are assessed based on:
- Academic performance and research potential
- Depth of commitment to human rights causes beyond academia
- Quality of personal statement outlining the proposed research’s relevance to human rights
- Strength of supporting documents, including references and previous achievements
Application Procedure
Applications must be submitted online by 31 October 2025. Your application should include:
- A completed scholarship application form
- A personal statement explaining your commitment to human rights and how your research contributes to the field
- Academic transcripts and relevant documents
Notification:
All applicants will be notified of the outcome via email by February 2026. Please note, no individual feedback will be provided.
