A major upgrade for the island of Tinos is on the horizon, with Greek Maritime Affairs Minister Vassilis Kikilias recently announcing the launch of a 2.5 million euros project to improve key areas of the island’s main port.
Scheduled to go to tender on June 5, the project is expected to begin after the summer tourism season and will address five core sections of the existing port infrastructure.
In parallel, the island’s long-awaited master plan for a comprehensive port redevelopment has taken a step forward. Following coordination with government officials, the final submission date for the master plan’s study has been set for August 30.
“Our goal is to move ahead with what could be the most significant infrastructure project Tinos has seen in 50 years,” said Minister Kikilias.
The minister highlighted that the master plan will lay the groundwork for a new, modern port that better serves both local needs and future visitor demand. He also underlined the government’s focus on improving water autonomy across the islands, citing progress in desalination infrastructure.
The port upgrade forms part of a broader effort to enhance essential services and infrastructure in the Cyclades, improve accessibility, and support year-round island sustainability.
