HAPCO’s new president, Antonia Alexandrou, CEO, Convin S.A.
Antonia Alexandrou has been elected the new president of the Hellenic Association of Professional Congress Organizers & Destinations Events Specialists (HAPCO & DES), following elections held during the association’s annual General Assembly last week.
Her election marks the beginning of a new four-year term (2025–2028) for the association’s Board of Directors, ushering in a new phase of strategic planning, sectoral engagement, and collaboration within Greece’s professional events and conference tourism industry.
Assuming the presidency from outgoing president Sissi Lygnou, Alexandrou acknowledged the weight of the role and expressed her commitment to continuity and growth.
“I assume the presidency of HAPCO & DES with a deep awareness of the responsibility and challenge that this specific position entails,” said Alexandrou.
“My goal is to further strengthen the sector, so that it can consistently and dynamically claim its rights, contributing substantially to the growth of market sizes for the benefit of the Greek economy and businesses.”
She also paid tribute to her predecessor’s leadership:
“The presence of Sissi Lygnou has been decisive, leaving a strong legacy that is both a compass and a responsibility for me to continue her work with the same dedication and strategic commitment.”
According to HAPCO & DES, the new Board of Directors takes office at a time of both challenges and opportunity for the industry. “With a renewed vision and a collaborative spirit, the association’s new leadership aims to elevate Greece’s standing in the global meetings and events market, strengthen industry alliances, and drive initiatives that support sustainable growth.”
Alexandrou noted that the newly elected board is composed of established professionals from across the tourism and MICE sectors.
“Together, we will work systematically to achieve our goals and further strengthen our industry,” she said.
